Shaders Leaking?
From The Elder Scrolls Construction Set Wiki
Hmm... Every time I do a retex of anything and manipulate it in the CS, I seem to have this problem with certain shaders (1, 15, and 26 to be specific) leaking. Now, it shows up fine in-game, but it causes crashing on shut-down of the CS. This isn't really a priority, but does anyone know how to fix this? The Imperial Dragon 09:34, 28 July 2006 (EDT)
- ShadowDancer 13:20, 28 July 2006 (EDT): I have been wondering about that myself. I keep getting a notification that "Shader 1 is leaking" but I haven't been able to figure out what is causing it. I haven't noticed any effect from it either but to be on the safe side, I always reopen the .esp in the CS and save it again. The thing that really puzzles me is that it doesn't happen every time that I close CS. Does anyone know which shader is number 1?
It doesn't happen every time because you have to *manipulate* the object... I have no idea what Shader 1 is, but I do know it runs fine in-game. I know it is possible to get other textures in the game without this message, but the reason continues to elude me... The Imperial Dragon 16:41, 28 July 2006 (EDT)
I found this problem when I had merged plugins. When I stopped using the merged plugin and did it by hand in CS, the problem vanished. In my case the leak problem was related to armored horses for some reason. One of the mods I merged does place an armored horse on the map. Not sure if it's a problem with one of my mods or the program I used to merge them. :Jorne 23:05, 11 Feb 2007 (EDT):
Could it be a missing Alpha Channel in the Normal Map? Here is a quote from Retex Troubleshooting, "Objects that have gloss use the normal map's alpha channel to determine how reflective each part of the object is. When the game can't find the normal map, the object looks very dark or even black, because those nif files are set to faint emission of black color, and without an alpha channel, the black color leaks out everywhere." No. That's not it, I experimented and it seems to be nothing to do with normal maps or their Alpha channels. I'm mystified. I wish someone knew that answer.Waerloga
